E. Why plant an Irish Oak Tree?
By planting Irish Oak Trees we are helping to undo the damage inflicted by foreign invaders and domestic neglect, which plundered the Irish landscape of trees since 1169 leaving less than 1% of these magnificent trees standing.

F. Can I visit my Oak Tree in Ireland and how can I find it?
Yes. Each tree planted is given a fixed position using The Differential Global Positioning System. This gives each tree an exact position on the planet within a tolerance of less than one meter. While GPS is widely available this technology is not good enough to pin point your tree. It is our belief that the DGPS system will be readily available to all in the near future.
So if you don't have access to DGPS its still quite easy. Check the forest address on your Certificate of Ownership. On entering the forest you are able to look up your unique tree I.D. number, name, and DGPS position. Using the tree number you can easily stroll through the forest and find your tree.
Please remember, for the first five to ten years of the forests life your Oak tree and the surrounding trees are fragile and you need to take care not to damage any trees while walking in the forest.
FULL CAR PARKING FACILITIES ARE PROVIDED AT THE FOREST.

G. Why GPS?
This technology gives us the accuracy required so that all members can ultimately identify their trees. In the unlikely event of all the tags being removed from the forest we can use our GPS system together with our data base to identify each tree and its owner in the forest. The coordinates generated for each tree are unique and relate to the piece of ground on which the tree is planted. These figures can never change they are fixed for all time.
